Hangu security operation repels reported infiltration attempt

Security forces in Pakistan’s northwestern Hangu district reportedly foiled a large-scale infiltration attempt by more than 100 armed individuals, according to police officials. Authorities said the operation involved coordinated action by police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and other security agencies, who claimed to have successfully cleared nearby schools, residential areas, and surrounding mountainous terrain following the incident.

Police stated that during the confrontation, mortar fire allegedly landed in civilian areas, resulting in the deaths of six residents and injuries to 13 others. Officials added that the attackers reportedly retrieved the bodies and injured companions before retreating from the area. Following the operation, the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police praised the responding personnel, announcing awards and commendations for their performance.
